“For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him:” (1 Samuel 1:27)
Children are a joy. They certainly aren’t easy but they are definitely a blessing from God. I hear so many people say they aren’t ready to have kids or they have their life planned out in steps and kids will come when all the other things are in place. Are we ever ready, and how often do things ever go as planned? The problem is sometimes that its “our” plan, not God’s plan. He has a plan for us and many times it is not even close to what we would plan for ourselves. In my experience, His plans are always way better than anything I could have ever thought of. Growing up, I didn’t even think I would ever move out of my parents house. I never planned to meet my future husband in my first semester of college. I never planned to then be married 4 years later and have our first child 8 years after that. None of that sounds like a well planned out life does it? I never really benefitted from my college experience academically or financially, but God had bigger plans. As I look at the sweet baby face sleeping next to me, I think about how crazy it sounds to have a new baby the same year we are celebrating 15 years of marriage. If you would have told me that was my future I would not have believed you. I am so grateful that God has chosen to bless and guide our little family along His plan and not our own. I would hate to see what I would have missed out on and where my life would be if I had pursued my own plan. I know my life would be a mess. He has blessed me beyond all measure. I don’t deserve any of it. I am humbled at the thought that He sees fit to give us these beautiful boys to raise. I feel very unworthy and unequipped to do so, but I know that God doesn’t make mistakes and He will provide a way.
Don’t wait till you are ready. Seek his plans and not your own. You will not regret it. He knows you better than you know yourself and He knows what is best. He sees your past, present, and future. Let Him do his good works in you. He loves you!

“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” (Psalm 127:3-5)
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” (3 John 1:4)
