Why do we as women want others to think our lives are perfect? Why do we sugar coat things instead of being honest and reaching out for help when we need it? Life is hard. We all need help sometimes but we seem to struggle with admitting that.

We now have a 2 week old beautiful baby boy who is such a blessing to our family. God truly turned what was a traumatic experience for me the first time around into a beautiful experience this time around. I know I don’t deserve either of these blessings that God has trusted us with, but I am very grateful. Along with all the good, being a mother is hard. We all want to look at the pictures in magazines of celebrities after they have a child and still look amazing and happy. Everything looks good from that point of view. That is only a picture, not the truth. We don’t want to talk about the painful healing process after birth, or the emotional toll it takes on us. Hormones are awful. One minute you are joyful and feeling blessed and the next you are crying in despair wondering how you’re going to do all this. It is a struggle. Yes, it is worth it, but it is hard. Breastfeeding moms know that the struggle doesn’t stop there. While it is a beautiful thing, it is also painful and challenging at times. While talking to a friend about some emotional struggles, she replied “There’s no judgment here.” Why don’t we hear and say that more often? If we would all be more honest and supportive to one another, we wouldn’t feel so alone in the hard times of life. We aren’t meant to walk through life alone. “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2) I am so thankful for friends and family that have supported and loved me through many hard times in my life. I can’t brag on my wonderful husband and son enough. They have been by my side through it all, without judgment, just love. I couldn’t ask for a better example of Christ’s love in my life.

Let’s love one another. Support one another. Be honest with one another. Let’s stop acting like life should be perfect, because it is not. That’s why we need our perfect Saviour Jesus Christ. He is the reason we can have joy through it all.

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:34-35)
