One day several years ago a very malnourished dog showed up at my parents house. We decide to bring her home with us to get her healthy and find her a home. Well, she is still with us years later and she has taken her place as our protector of anything that moves outside. Every time I come home in the dark, she greets me at the car and then immediately runs to the surrounding wooded area and growls and barks until I have gotten our kids in the house safely. I never hear or see what it is she is protecting us from. She comes up before I go in as if to say “your welcome, I just saved your life.” I pet her and tell her “good girl”. It makes me think of how our Lord protects us every day from things we cannot see. The enemy is continually throwing fiery darts our way. I wonder how many that He has already blocked from attacking us throughout our lives. Maybe someday in heaven we will know them all and be able to thank Him face to face. Today as you go about your day, stop and be thankful for all the unseen dangers and battles you have been protected from by your Heavenly Father, your Protector.
Read Psalm 91.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;”
Psalms 91:1-5 KJV
